Ground calcium carbonates (GCCs) and Precipitated calcium carbonates (PCC) are taken into use as usual purpose toothpastes, special purpose dentifrices, and several other oral care goods. PCC works like a moderate-to-mild abrasive, as a thickener, a less expensive filler, and bodying agent when used high or smaller or external area PCCs. Since calcium carbonate is unsolvable in water, it could only be utilized in impervious products and not in clear gels.
The abrasivity of a mineral atom rests on on two features-its basic hardness and particle size of the mineral.

Uses :
- PCC with 0.7micron sized particle is the mildest and effective abrasive. The small particles thicken the toothpastes and prevents the cost of expensive thickeners.
- With particle size from 2 to 4 microns it functions as moderate thickening agent.
