The huge majority of this chemical, utilized in industry is taken out by quarrying or mining. Pure calcium carbonate BP (e.g. for pharmaceutical or food use), can be formed using a pure extracted source (generally marble).
Alternatively, it is made using calcining crude calcium oxide. H2O or water is added to provide calcium hydroxide, and then carbon dioxide is conceded through this preparation to precipitate the anticipated chemical, denoted to in the business as precipitated CaCO3.
Applications :
- In construction industry as a constituent of cement, building material, or as limestone aggregate
- For purification of iron from its ore in the blast furnace
- In oil-industry as a filtercake-sealing and formation bridging agent
- As an extender in paints
- As a basic material in sugar refining
- As a dietary supplement and ingredient in antacids
- As an ingredient in toothpastes
- For elimination of SO2 and NO2 from the environment
